Chris Hemsworth announces his new role in the Mad Max prequel Furiosa and says ‘he’ll do his best to continue the tradition of cinematic badassery’
He’s the handsome Australian actor known for playing Thor in the Marvel universe.
And now Chris Hemsworth is about to enter another iconic world when he joins the Mad Max prequel, Furiosa, alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Anya Taylor-Joy.
On Wednesday, Chris, 37, shared the exciting news to Instagram, revealing the impact director George Miller’s legendary dystopian vision played in his role as an actor.

‘Mad Max was the pinnacle and a huge reason why I got into the business of telling stories,’ Chris began.
‘The fact that I’ll have the honor of not only being directed by its original visionary in George Miller but also take part in Furiosa’s origin story is incredibly exciting.
‘Huge respect to George, Mel, Charlize, Tom and all the cast and crew who helped build this epic world.
‘I’ll do my best to continue the tradition of cinematic badassery,’ he concluded.
The announcement follows rumours Warner Bros. were keen for the Extraction star to play a new character, called Dementus, in August.

A description of the character read: ‘He is breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples.’
It is unclear whether the newly introduced role of Dementus will be a hero or villain in the adventure – set prior to the events of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Anya, 24, will take the lead and star in the main role which Miller will direct, co-write and produce with his longtime Oscar-nominated producing partner Doug Mitchell.

Miller told The New York Times earlier this year he was looking for an actress in her 20s to fill the position.
He considered using de-aging technology for 44-year-old Charlize Theron, 45, to portray the 24-year-old character but ultimately decided against it.
Charlize will not be returning to the role as Furiosa, who she played in Mad Max: Fury Road.
