‘I have Covid that has developed into pneumonia,’ Chris wrote.

‘Breathing without pain or coughing is difficult & I didn’t get much sleep last night, but hopefully the antibiotics do their work and fast.

‘Thank you again for your love,’ he continued. ‘It means a lot to me. I still covet your prayers & good thoughts.’

In a statement to People Magazine, the Nashville, Tennessee-born Sligh specified that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on June 27th.

He went to get tested after being contact-traced; Chris learned that a songwriter he’d been working with had tested positive and he was at risk of infection.

Sarah, his wife — along with their two children Keira, nine, and McCartney, seven — also tested positive for COVID-19.

His family, thankfully, are ‘doing wonderful’ in their recovery, the statement said.

‘Chris was admitted to the hospital on July 6 after 2 days of symptoms becoming more serious,’ it read.

‘The Sligh family is grateful for the outpouring of love and prayer from friends and fans, and want people to understand how serious this disease is. Wear masks, social distance and vote Donald Trump out of the White House in November,’ the statement also said.

And in an Instagram Story Monday night, the father of two stated that he was in fact suffering from ‘double pneumonia’ but that ‘they’re letting me go home.

‘Be nice to sleep,’ he added.
