Christian Bale looks trim and fit on the set of Ford v. Ferrari following weight gain for Backseat

He has been known to embody his characters and endure major body transformations for his movie roles.

And Christian Bale has pulled it off once again as he was seen looking fit and trim on the set of his new film Ford V Ferrari on Thursday.

The 44-year old had to lose about 40lbs he gained for his previous role playing former US Vice President Dick Cheney in Backseat.

The Welsh star looked like a fraction of himself compared to a photograph taken late last year, dressed in black cargo shorts, a blue t-shirt and dark sneakers.

His face looks noticeably more sculpted and taut while on the set at an abandoned airport.

What’s  equally noticeable was that smile that he wore on his face as he enjoyed a break from filming.

Bale has famously lost and gained large amounts of weight for a number of roles over his illustrious career. But with this latest weight gain for Backseat he decided to get the assistance of an expert.

‘I had never before gone to a doctor or a nutritionist about gaining or losing weight for my roles,’ he told Star2.com.

‘But eventually that caught up with me. So, finally for Backseat, I decided that maybe somebody knows better than I do; so I went to somebody and they managed to get me up a good 40lbs.

‘It’s never healthy to put on that amount of weight in a short amount of time, but I did it in the healthiest manner,’ he explained.

Asked about how he packed on the pounds to play Cheney last year he smiled: ‘I’ve just been eating a lot of pies,’ as reported by the Independent.
