Christian Eriksen hailed the impact of Lucas Moura after the Brazilian’s hat-trick helped Tottenham beat Ajax and reach the Champions League final.

Having fallen behind to Matthijs De Ligt and Hakim Ziyech, Moura struck three times in the second half to complete the visitors’ remarkable comeback, drawing 3-3 on aggregate and progressing on away goals.

Immediately after the match, Eriksen felt it was Spurs’ heart that saw them mount another miraculous comeback, just one day after Liverpool achieved similar against Barcelona.

Lucas Moura hit second-half hat-trick as Tottenham beat Ajax in Champions League semi-final

Eriksen said: ‘It was a ridiculous game. We were really far down, tried to fight back and we were lucky. I feel sorry for Ajax. Over the two games they played better football but we scored.

‘It’s a relief, we’ve been working for this and now we’re in the final. We couldn’t look ourselves in the mirror at half time.

‘We had to fight back, to put them under pressure. Lucas had a wonderful game with three goals. There was nothing tactical today, it was more of a fight. Heart and Lucas Moura, that is how we won the game.

‘He’s had a rollercoaster season but for him to get us into the final, hopefully he’ll get a statue in England.

‘We didn’t deserve it more than them but we got it. English final will be fun. They still have a lot to play for in the league but in three weeks’ time it’ll be great.
