Christina Applegate opened up about her health struggles in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times.

The 51-year-old longtime actress shared that she gained 40lbs after her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

It changed how she saw herself.

‘I gained 40 pounds because of inactivity and medications, and I didn’t look like myself, and I didn’t feel like myself,’ said the Married… With Children actress.

Applegate had to film her Netflix dark comedy Dead To Me even though her body was changing. She was so upset with how she looked, she refused to watch the show, she shared.

Referencing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, she said, ‘I don’t like seeing myself struggling.’

The mother-of-one said: ‘At some point I was able to distance myself from my own ego, and realize what a beautiful piece of television it was.

‘All the scenes I wasn’t in were so much fun to see and experience for the very first time,’ the LA native continued.

Applegate was diagnosed with MS while filming the third installment of the show, which also stars Linda Cardellini as Judy Hale.

Leading the show as widowed mother-of-town Jen Harding, the Christina’s performance earned her a SAG nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series.

Elsewhere in the interview, the entertainer revealed that the upcoming 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards may mark her final appearance as a working actress.

‘It’s my last awards show as an actor probably, so it’s kind of a big deal,’ the Married With Child star said.

Although she won’t be on the screen, Christina told the outlet that she’s pursuing voiceover work.

‘Doing a s*** ton of voice-overs to make some cash to make sure that my daughter’s fed and we’re homed,’ she quipped.

She was referring to the child she shares with husband Martyn LeNoble, Sadie Grace LeNoble, twelve.

Dead To Me premiered premiered in 2019 and aired its final episode in November 2022.

The comedy series follows Jen (Christina) who, after losing her husband to a hit-and-run, meets fellow widower Judy Hale (Linda) at a grief counseling session.

The duo form an unlikely friendship that leads to Jen making Judy a part of her and her children’s lives.

But drama unfolds as it’s revealed that Judy is harboring a dark secret that will change life as they know it.

In her conversation with the LA Times, Christina said she was ‘a wreck everyday’ as she filmed Dead To Me’s final season while ‘struggling’ with her MS symptoms.

‘But most of that wreck would take place in my trailer by myself,’ she recalled.

Production took a five month break shortly so she could undergo the treatment she needed.
