Christine Pelosi: ‘There are rapists among us’

Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Christine shocked California lawmakers this week by boldly declaring during an address: ‘There are rapists in this building.’

Pelosi, 51, delivered the remarks as part of an ongoing campaign to end workplace harassment which she says is rampant in the local government.

She, along with almost 300 women, signed their names to a document calling for an end to it and on Tuesday, Pelosi, the chairwoman of the California Democratic Party’s Women’s Caucus, used it as ammunition in a hearing before the Assembly Rules Subcommittee on Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation Prevent and Response, in Sacramento.

‘We have a whisper network. You all know it. Because what everybody here knows is that we have rapists in this building. We have molesters among us,’ she said.

As she gave her blistering remarks on sexual assault, her mother finally called for Rep. John Conyers to resign over his own accusations after days of silence on the matter.

Christine, speaking in Sacramento, thundered: ‘There are perpetrators, enforcers and enablers in this building causing a clear and present danger to the public and to the people here.

‘We know who they are, a lot of us know who they are and we find out through that whisper network. we find out because people do tell, they do talk they just don’t come forward,’ she said.

Later, Pelosi refused to name any of the alleged attackers when pushed for names on Twitter.

She said she would not betray the victims who had confided in her by revealing any of the alleged predators and labeled a Sacramento Bee columnist who implored her to as a ‘troll’.

In her plea to the committee, she said she had become the ‘hotline’ for women who have been abused by politicians and compared the state’s government to the Catholic church and its covering up of pedophilia.

‘I saw the catholic church so unwilling to police itself that it let parishes go bankrupt rather than address the issue.

The thinking at the time was, “well this person’s just sick, let’s just move them.” We do that in the whisper network here in the capitol, don’t we? We just rescue someone and move them.

“Let’s get them out of that office and put them over here. Let’s get them out of that committee and stick them over there.”

‘That’s not enough. It failed the church, It doesn’t work,’ she fumed.

Pelosi is leading the We Said Enough campaign where anonymous accusers have shared details of they have been allegedly abused by California politicians on a website. None name their attackers.

As Christine marched on with her crusade against sexual harassers this week, her mother finally condemned Dem. Rep. John Conyers to resign over claims he sexually harassed staffers.

Conyers. 88, has been hospitalized for stress as a growing number of women come out to detail how he abused them.

The older Pelosi had been quiet on the issue until Thursday when she finally accepted he should leave his seat.

‘The allegations against congressman Conyers as we have learned more since Sunday are serious, disappointing and very credible,’ said Pelosi, a California representative who notably did not call for Conyers to go during a Sunday appearance on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’

‘It’s very sad. The brave women who came forward are owed justice,’ Pelosi continued at a Capitol press conference.

‘I pray for congressman Conyers and his family and wish them well, however, Congressman Conyers should resign,’ she said.
