Cleveland Browns wide receiver/returner Jakeem Grant was carted off the field with a knee injury following the opening kickoff of Saturday’s preseason game against the host Kansas City Chiefs.

Per reports, Grant’s right leg was placed in an air cast prior to his departure from the field. He immediately was ruled out for the remainder of the game by the Browns.

Grant, 30, had worked his way back to action after sustaining a ruptured Achilles last summer.

He has 100 catches for 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns in 81 career games with the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. 

Grant also has accumulated a total of 1,228 punt return yards and 2,699 kickoff return yards – with six combined touchdown returns.

Grant averages 24.5 yards per kick return and 10.3 yards per punt return in his career.

Grant was drafted with the 186th pick in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech.

During his college career, he was used as a receiver and a returner. He racked up over 1,200 receiving yards and over 1,000 return yards as well as 27 receiving TDs and four returns for a touchdown.

His team splits include 978 punt return yards and 2,206 kickoff return yards with three punt returns for a TD and two kickoffs returned for a TD in six years with the Dolphins.

In his one year with the Bears, Grant racked up 250 punt return yards and 493 kickoff return yards. He returned one punt for a touchdown.
