The video was uploaded to social media by ‘Secure A Lid,’ a company who have invented a device to stop unwanted pests from causing trash-related chaos. 

The hilarious footage has been viewed more 500,000 times, prompting users to share similar stories and images of the clever birds causing mischief.

One user wrote: ‘How are the native bin chickens meant to feast with this device? Their beaks cannot reach the juice with such a small gap’. 

Another joked: ‘keep the bin chickens away’.

Many people also claimed that crow’s were a problem, with a number praising the ‘secure a lid’ device for keeping pests out.
