Coleen’s oldest son doesn’t have a care in the world

His father’s personal and professional lives are the source of intense scrutiny following speculation about the state of his marriage and his football club’s current precarious position in the Premier League.

But Everton footballer Wayne Rooney’s oldest son Kai didn’t have a care in the world as he let his hair down in Barbados, where he is currently enjoying a half-term break with mother Coleen.

The seven-year old was in typically high spirits as he took to the Atlantic on Monday, where his dinghy was led by speedboat across the water.

Ensuring he was well prepared for his latest coastal excursion, the youngster sported a life-jacket above his bright orange patterned shorts prior to climbing aboard the large red inflatable.

Following his cruise Kai made his way back to the beach, where he was seen padding across the sand during a brief appearance without his doting mother.

Coleen and Wayne own a five bedroom house, complete with infinity pool, and media room in the island’s prestigious Jasmine Ridge estate. It can house up to 14 guests and includes a two bedroom guest cottage.

They reportedly bought the lavish property in 2010 for £5m and rental of the house can cost up to £25,000 a week.

The Rooneys do not use the house as a base during their frequent trips to Barbados, preferring to stay at the exclusive Sandy Lane hotel.

The stunning star is in the midst of personal battles after her husband Wayne was convicted of drink-driving following a night of partying with a clubgoer.

While Coleen has remained relatively silent over the issue, she has defended her decision to head off on holiday with their children and his parents, who have also joined the group.

The holiday comes at a curious time,  with embattled Wayne celebrating his 32nd birthday alone on Tuesday while his family let their hair down in the Caribbean.

And the former England striker couldn’t adequately celebrate his big day as he had to travel to London by train with beleaguered club Everton, who currently languish in the relegation zone, for their Carabao Cup match with Chelsea.

With the match finishing at around 9.40pm – a 2-1 loss – Wayne might have hoped to have been allowed a lie in at his £6million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire.

But the law requires him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and that meant a breakfast time wake-up call and a chauffeured trip in a £60,000 Audi to the community centre for another session of routine maintenance tasks, which began at 9.39am.
