Comic Bob Zmuda arrested for DUI in Lake Tahoe and released on $5k bail
Comedian Bob Zmuda was arrested this week in Lake Tahoe for a misdemeanor DUI.
According to TMZ, the founder of U.S. Comic Relief was arrested around 12:45am on Wednesday.
The 69-year-old was placed in El Dorado County Jail before being released on a $5,000 bail

Zmuda frequently collaborated with comedian and Saturday Night Live OG Andy Kaufman, who died in 1984.
In memory of Kaufman, Zmuda founded the US version of Comic Relief, a charity to help America’s homeless.
The duo were known for the outlandish characters and their tendency to stage elaborate hoaxes.
Zmuda often portrayed a character created by Kaufman named Tony Clifton, a bumbling lounge singer.

According to Zmuda, they fooled the talk show host into believing it was Kaufman, which he only learned the truth about years later.

Paul Giamatti portrayed Zmuda in the 1999 Golden Globe-winning film Man on the Moon.
