Commonwealth customers are left unable to use their cards after bank suffers massive outage

  • Bank apologised to customers but wasn’t clear on cause or time until fix

A major outage has locked millions of Commonwealth Bank customers out of NetBank or from making eftpos payments.

The bank on Monday afternoon apologised to customers for the issue, but it was not clear what was causing it or how long it would take to fix.

‘We’re aware of an issue impacting some POS transactions on some CBA terminals, as well as viewing cards and loans in the CommBank app and NetBank,’ it said.

A major outage has locked millions of Commonwealth Bank customers out of NetBank or from making eftpos payments 

‘We’re working to fix this as soon as possible. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.’

CBA later gave an update: ‘Customers may be having difficulty using CBA credit or debit cards and as accessing services in the CommBank app and NetBank. 

‘This includes Cardless Cash, transfers and payments as well as viewing accounts. We’re working hard to fix this updates to follow.’
