Commuter suffers life threatening head injuries in tube platform attack

A commuter has suffered life-threatening head injuries following an attack at a north London tube station. 

The man was attacked on the platform of West Hampstead station around 4.30pm. 

The station has been closed while investigators examine the crime scene. The victim has been taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

British Transport Police said they are investigating the incident. 

A spokesperson said: ‘We were called to West Hampstead underground station shortly before 4.30pm on Friday, 29 June, following reports of an assault.

‘Officers attended, along with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service. A man has been taken to hospital with potentially life threatening head injuries.’

London Ambulance Service raced the victim to hospital.

The station reopened to passengers after 7.30pm.
