A man has been passenger shamed for putting his dirty feet on the seat of a Melbourne tram.

An image of the man’s bare feet, cracked and covered in black dirt, were uploaded to Reddit this week, and people were not impressed.

‘There’s a dark place in hell for a set of hooves like that,’ one person said.

Damn. Look at those calluses. At least we know he doesn’t have flat feet,’ said another.

But many were quick to defend him, with some recognising him as a local homeless man.

One person wrote: ‘That poor guy, I’ve seen him in CBD, Richmond and Chapel, he’s in a bad state.’

One in 10 public transport fines in Victoria are given to people for placing their feet on seats.

The offence carries a whopping $180 fine for adults and $61 for children.
