Concertgoers slam Red Hot Chili Peppers for not playing classic Under the Bridge

Red Hot Chili Peppers fans have walked away from their Aussie shows disheartened after the band failed to play one of their most iconic songs. 

The California rock group left Under the Bridge out of their set list during their Brisbane and Sydney shows as they kicked off their Australia tour with Post Malone.

Fans in Sydney left Accor Stadium on Thursday night miserable, with one devastated female fan posting to TikTok to complain.

‘When you go to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert and they don’t play Under the Bridge,’ the woman wrote alongside the video while pouting her bottom lip.

‘Post Malone did a shoey and smashed a guitar to pieces though,’ she added in her caption.

The tour Down Under includes performances in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland and Dunedin, but the group won’t be heading to Adelaide, Hobart or Darwin.

In July, Red Hot Chili Peppers announced they’d be touring Australia and New Zealand alongside Post Malone.

Due to popular demand, they added second shows for Sydney and Melbourne.

It has been four years since Post Malone last performed in Australia and Red Hot Chili Peppers hasn’t toured Down Under since 2019.

The bassist is selling his property in Moruya on the NSW South Coast after almost 30 years.

He purchased the property in 1994 and the band used it to write some of their best-selling songs. 

In April 2022, the legendary alternative-rock band was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

During the ceremony, drummer Chad Smith name-dropped prior members of the band because ‘they’re all part of our journey’.

Anthony Kiedis added the story of the band is ‘not a story of individuals’.

‘Something happens when we come together which is much greater than the individual parts, we are much greater than the sum total of our parts,’ Kiedis said.
