The operation began in April when detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit started to engage with the man online.

Police allege the man, from Sydney’s Upper North Shore, believed he was speaking to a 14-year-old girl.

The man allegedly engaged in sexually-explicit conversations and broadcast explicit live video recordings.

Police will allege in court the man had made arrangements to meet the child for sex, New South Wales Police said.
