The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) later ruled there was enough evidence to charge McGregor.

Gardaí confirmed in a statement on Thursday: ‘Gardaí are investigating an assault incident that occurred at a public house in Drimnagh, Dublin 12, on 6/4/19 at approximately 2:30pm. Investigations ongoing in relation to this incident and no arrests have been made to date.’

Sources say that McGregor was unhappy when the older man rejected an offer of his whiskey, leading to the physical altercation.

On Friday UFC president Dana White compared McGregor to boxing legend Mike Tyson while condemning the footage from the pub.

White described McGregor’s actions as ‘pretty bad’ and said, with rich fighters like the Irishman and Mike Tyson, you need to ‘get ready for a disaster’.
