Conor McGregor has entered the final week of preparation for his blockbuster showdown with Floyd Mayweather, and it appears the Irishman is already bringing out the heavy artillery.

The two fighting superstars are set to go head-to-head in Las Vegas on Saturday in what is on course to be the most lucrative bout of all time.

Team McGregor have been training hard in the build-up to the event, but are also finding the time to unwind and joke around outside of the ring.

This week a image of the group appeared on social media, with McGregor and his coaching showing they are heavily armed… in a quite literal sense.

The Dubliner and his team posed in high spirits in the gym, each holding an assortment of weapons.

McGregor, as is often the case, was central to proceedings and could be seen smiling broadly in the centre of the shot.

In his arms the Dubliner held a large, imposing machine gun, while members of his entourage could also be seen with firearms.

The snap was uploaded by coach Owen Roddy, via his personal Instagram account, who could be seen in the shot.

McGregor’s other trainer and close friend John Kavanagh was also present in the background.

As tensions mount ahead of the highly-anticipated showdown, McGregor has stirred the pot recently by offering Mayweather the chance to challenge for his UFC lightweight world title.

After Mayweather had talked up the possibility of facing McGregor in the octagon during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the Irishman came back with a response.

‘If he would do that, he would have my respect, anyone that is willing to step into a game like that where the limitations are so short deserves respect,’ he said.

‘If he was to follow through on his word on that then great, I’ll be here to grant him his rematch. But right now we’re focused on putting him away on August 26 and then we will see what happens after that,’ McGregor added.
