Cop suspended for liking posts supporting his wife who said Rashida Tlaib may ‘blow up Capitol Hill’

A Florida police officer has been suspended for liking Facebook posts in support of his wife after she said Rashida Tlaib may ‘blow up Capitol Hill’.

Hallandale Beach Commissioner Anabelle Lima-Taub came under fire in January last year after comments about the Democrat and first Palestinian-American woman to be elected to Congress, in which she said Tlaib could ‘become a martyr’.

Now her husband, veteran cop Pablo Lima, has been placed on administrative leave after liking a number of comments on social media which backed Lima-Taub.

One of those he liked read: ‘This piece of s***  took her oath on the Koran.’

Lima himself did not write anything derogatory but he added his approval to that post which continued: ‘When will these politicians grow some cohones and start supporting America and it’s Americans.

‘They talk about [Lima-Taub] being a racist and spewing hate…they forget that this Muslim [Tlaib] supports the people who flew planes into our NY twin towers and killed over 5000 people and more dying from exposure still 18 years later.’

He also liked posts which called his wife’s comments ‘free speach fk [sic] them’ and her condemnation ‘Complete BS’.

The Miami Herald reports he also liked one post which read: ‘But Talib [sic] gets to spew her hatred of Jews and others not of the Islamic faith and it’s ok not to defend yourself ? I’m with the commissioner, awaiting the next terrorist plot to open eyes again only when something happens.’

Lima had applied to become Bay Harbor Islands’ next police chief when he was questioned over his activity on Facebook.

Town Manager J.C. Jimenez told The Miami Herald: ‘The content of the social media posts that were brought to our attention are not consistent with our Town’s values and policies.

‘Corporal Pablo Lima is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation. State law prohibits us from discussing details of an open internal affairs investigation.’

A rally was held in support of Lima and attended by his wife on Saturday evening.

Former mayor Linda Zilber told Local10: ‘Though he didn’t say anything mean, his wife said something, and he just supported his wife.’

Lima-Taub faced calls to resign in January last year after writing: ‘She is a danger and (I) would not put it past her to become a martyr and blow up Capitol Hill.’

The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations told NBC Miami at the time: ‘Holding a public office comes with great responsibilities. Xenophobic stereotypes shall not be embraced by any elected official.

‘Her un-American, xenophobic statements establish that she is unfit to hold the Commissioner’s seat.’

Lima-Taub, who remains a commissioner, told the station: ‘I urge anyone that was offended by it, especially some of the self-righteous colleagues that I have, to research and Google BDS, Google Hamas, Google Hezbollah, Look up CAIR and look up Rashida Tlaib’s affiliations with these groups.’

She had been supported outside Hallandale Beach City Hall by dozens of protesters carrying Israeli flags.

On September 11 last year she referenced U.S. Rep Ilhan Omar’s comments that ‘some people did something’, writing: ‘#NeverForget #911 ‘Some people did something,’ as per America’s vitriolic hate monger, @repilhan!

‘This country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and we must never let the deaths of those who perished on 9/11 be in vain.’

Lima and Lima-Taub have not commented in the wake of the former’s suspension.
