Cops hunt for man after two bank workers are killed in SC

Police are searching for an ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect after two bank workers were killed during a holdup in South Carolina. 

Conway police said the robbery happened at CresCom Bank on 16th Avenue on Monday. 

Authorities said the bank sounded an alarm shortly after 1pm Monday, as local residents were preparing for the solar eclipse over the Horry County area.

Around 2.30pm police released a photo of the suspect and said he fled the area in a Chrysler 200 with tinted windows and a South Carolina license plate.

The vehicle may also have a sticker on the glass that says ‘River Life’. The suspect is described as a black male with dreadlocks. 

Conway Police Lt Selena Small said the names of the two victims haven’t been released because their relatives haven’t been notified.  

The cause of death wasn’t revealed, but a coroner’s report is expected Tuesday.

‘Please keep the family of the victims and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers during this time,’ the Conway Police Department wrote on Facebook. 

Small would not say if there was a hostage situation at the bank as part of the robbery.

Small also declined to comment on how much money was stolen.    

The Brandon Agency released a statement on behalf of the CresCom Bank Monday evening. 

‘Everyone in our company is heartbroken about this tragedy and we are devastated for the victims and their families. We are actively cooperating with the authorities investigating this unthinkable crime.’

Conway police have enlisted the help of Myrtle Beach and Horry County police, as well as the FBI and the South Carolina Highway Patrol for the investigation.  

Authorities are also asking the public for help finding the man and are urging anyone with information to call 911.
