Bottle shop, Bunnings and an ER waiting room are put on high alert for Covid as more than 1,000 Australians in NSW battle the virus in hospital

A bottle shop, a busy Bunnings and an ER waiting room have been added to a worrying new list of Covid exposure sites as more than 1000 patients battle the virus in NSW hospitals. 

The new sites come as the state recorded 1,485 new cases of the virus and three deaths on Sunday, amid fears case numbers may soar beyond 2000 a day. 

Bunnings in Taylors Beach, in the coastal town of Port Stephens has been flagged by NSW Health as a high-risk site on three separate days. 

Any shoppers who visited the hardware store on the times listed has been ordered to get tested immediately and isolate until a negative result is received.

It is the same story for any person who visited the Cellarbrations bottle shop in Shoal Bay, more than 200km from the city’s CBD, on the times listed by NSW Health. 

The waiting room at the Wyong Hospital Emergency Room in Hamlyn Terrace was also been attended by a Covid-infected person last week. 

Those who were in the waiting room at the time flagged is now considered a close contact of the virus and must get tested and isolate for 14 days. 

A Subway in Thornton, 20 kilometres from Newcastle, has also been put on high alert for one day last week. 

The new sites come as it was announced that more than 1000 Covid-infected patients are currently battling the virus in NSW hospitals. 

There are 1030 people currently hospitalised with coronavirus across the state, with 175 people in intensive care and 72 patients who require ventilators.
