Another New South Wales region could be plunged into lockdown after a coronavirus case emerged at a school in the state’s central west.

Residents in Dubbo and surrounding areas have been urged to get tested after a case emerged at Dubbo West Public School.

The school has been closed after the Department of Education was advised by NSW Health of the infection late Tuesday night.

Staff and students have been ordered to isolate and get tested if symptoms emerge.

Nineteen services in the city’s inner-west will be cancelled for the next two days after a number of drivers were deemed as close Covid contacts.

Around 38,000 residents in Dubbo and surrounding areas are on high alert after authorities found fragments of the virus in the city and nearby Mudgee last weekend.

More than six million people in Sydney and surrounds are now in lockdown until at least August 28, with the Hunter, Byron Bay, Armidale and Tamworth areas also enduring snap lockdowns.

Fennel Bay Public School at Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle is also closed on Wednesday after a student tested positive to COVID.

NSW recorded 356 new infections on Tuesday, it’s worst ever rise in daily infections.

More to come.
