Coronavirus: Cristiano Ronaldo in quarantine in luxury Madeira villa with girlfriend

Not a bad place to be stuck! Cristiano Ronaldo in quarantine with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez in luxury Madeira villa overlooking Atlantic Ocean, complete with rooftop swimming pool and its own football pitch

  • Cristiano Ronaldo returned home to Madeira amid the coronavirus outbreak
  • His girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez has shared snaps of the villa on social media
  • He had also returned to assist his mother who had recently suffered a stroke
  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

Cristiano Ronaldo obtained permission from Juventus to go to Madeira, the Portuguese island where he was born, to assist his mother and complete the quarantine from coronavirus in his home.

According to ‘La Stampa’, Ronaldo is completing voluntary self-isolation in Madeira with a lot of work in a Holliwoodian villa, which his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez has been offering stunning glimpses of on her official Instagram account.

The white and grey villa overlooking the ocean is equipped with every comfort, including two Olympic swimming pools – one of which is on the roof and is protected by a wonderful architectural structure – two gyms and even a regular size football pitch.

Obviously there is a large garage with five parking spaces. Every day he runs in his own maxi park, trains in the various gyms on the real estate surface and swims for at least an hour a day in the villa equipped with Olympic swimming pools.

He had returned to Madeira to visit his mother, Dolores Aveiro, after the fear of the stroke that had struck her, and she is now settling in in her luxurious villa for an expected 15-day period.

His brother Hugo also reportedly lives on the lower floors of the seven-storey house the Juventus star recently purchased in Funchal.

Ronaldo probably did not expect to have to extend his Portuguese stay but the coronavirus emergency has seen the time of the ‘buen retiro’ prolonged.

And girlfriend Georgina showed what a good time he and his family are having after posting a glorious picture of the rooftop pool, which shows his eldest son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr looking out to sea.

She later posted a new photo showing their daughter Alana relaxing on a sofa by a window offering picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean along with the caption: ‘The little angry face I got in return for putting my foot down’.

In a statement earlier in the week, Juventus confirmed the former Real Madrid striker is not returning to Italy for the time being, saying: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo has not trained and remains in Madeira awaiting developments with the current health crisis.’

Ronaldo is also staying put in his hometown after news that Juventus teammates Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi have both contracted the virus.

The 35-year-old Portugal international shared a dressing room with Rugani last Sunday when his team beat Inter Milan 2-0 behind closed doors, before news of Matuidi also falling victim to the virus broke over a week later on Tuesday.

Ronaldo had already returned to Madeira by the time Rugani and Matuidi’s diagnoses had come through, but it is not yet clear how long he will remain there with Serie A football suspended until at least April 3.
