Tummy tucks and no funny looks: Cosmetic surgery booms as Britons working from home take advantage of colleagues not being able to see them having procedures done

Cosmetic surgeries such as breast reductions and tummy tucks have seen a sharp rise in popularity thanks to Brits taking advantage of working from home to have the procedures in secret.
Clinics that offer the procedures said some of their surgeries have seen a 500 per cent increase in demand, according to The Times.
This is because working from home allows people to have the cosmetic surgeries and then recover at home, with colleagues none the wiser.
It seems that weight loss surgeries are among the most in-demand procedures as Brits try to curb weight gain during lockdown.

Dan Marsh, a British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons council member, said that he is booked for the next nine months thanks to increased demands for procedures.
He told the paper: ‘The main reason [for the high demand] is that people can recuperate at home, they don’t have to take sick leave and no one has to know.’
Pall Mall Cosmetics said that inquiries into liposuction have doubled since before the lockdown, while tummy tucks are also up 40 per cent.
Men have also been looking into cosmetic procedures to try and eliminate ‘man boobs’, with inquiries into gynaecomastia surgery, up 115 per cent.
Ramachandran Prasad, consultant general breast surgeon for Pall Mall Cosmetics told the paper that surgeries such as breast reductions and tummy tucks have a recovery time of around four to six weeks.
He said that many people take time off of work to recover to try and hide the fact they had surgery done.

Pall Mall Cosmetics have also seen a 520 per cent increase in breast reduction inquiries and a 110 per cent jump for breast augmentation.
The news comes after a Public Health England survey found that 35 per cent of adults claim to have tucked into an unhealthy snack or drink at least once a day since the pandemic began – up from 26 per cent this time last year.
The England-wide study revealed smokers got through 29 per cent more cigarettes since the second national lockdown and 23 per cent of adults noticed they were drinking more alcohol.
But Covid-19 is also the reason why 68 per cent of adults are trying to lead healthier lifestyles this year.
And overall, 80 per cent said they need to make some kind of lifestyle changes in 2021.
In the survey of more than 5,000 adults, exercising more topped the wish list of 41 per cent of the 40 to 60-year-old age group.
It was followed by 40 per cent who wanted to eat more healthily and 39 per cent who were keen to lose weight.
