An isolated ruined cottage located on the rugged Cornwall moorland made famous by TV’s Poldark has gone on the market for at least £400,000.
Canaglaze on Bodmin Moor – where much of the filming for the BBC series took place – is now a derelict row of 17th Century workers’ cottages that are totally inhabitable. They have no roofs, doors or windows.
There is no electricity supply or drainage and running water comes from a spring and an old well on the grounds.
Despite its run-down appearance, estate agents are anticipating plenty of interest in the property.
It comes with planning permission to turn the three former cottages into one large detached house.
It is completely ‘off grid’ and ‘there are no neighbours to speak of’.

Poldark fans can live like Captain Ross in this isolated ruined cottage set in the heart of the Cornish moorland

It is thought the cottages once housed staff who worked on an ancient hill farm that used to be on the same site.
The three homes were lived in up until the 1960s but then fell into disrepair.
A couple of artists have owned Canaglaze since 2012. They stay in a chalet on the land whenever they visit. They have now decided to sell the property after relocating to Belgium.
Bids have to be in by December 1 and Canaglaze is expected to sell for around £400,000. It could cost the same amount again to turn it into a detached home.
It comes with nearly five acres of land and is accessed by a dirt track which requires a 4×4 vehicle to get down.

The current property is in a derelict state but there is planning permission in place to rebuild it
The property is surrounded by the open moorland of Bodmin Moor which is featured in the BBC hit drama Poldark.
The exterior scenes for Ross Poldark’s cottage, Nampara, were filmed on the moor.
Chris Bailey, a partner of estate agents Knight Frank, said: ‘This really is a rare opportunity to purchase a property that is genuinely off-grid.
‘It is completely isolated and there are no neighbours to speak of.
‘It is absolute peace and quite, it really is getting away from it all.
‘Yes, the current property is in a state because it is derelict but there is planning permission in place to rebuild it.
‘It is not listed so it can be torn down but that would be a shame. It is well shored up.’
