A thrifty mother has revealed how she transformed her family living room for just £250.
Laura Stockdale, from Sussex, who shares two daughters with her fiance Morgan, took to Facebook group DIY on a Budget, to reveal how simply swapping their old and tired carpet for a vinyl floor gave the space a fresh new look.
The mother-of-two explained that she didn’t want to spend too much on the property as she rents through a housing association but wanted to make it homely.

The mother-of-two explained that she didn’t want to spend too much on the house as it’s housing association and she doesn’t own it, but was keen to make it homely
Laura shared a picture of her living room featuring a stained purple carpet, before adding a new picture of the white-washed vinyl floor.
She wrote: ‘So we took up my old carpet today (actually only 3 years old but clearly terrible quality and bleached from the balcony sun! ) and put down some vinyl flooring planks instead as it’s much easier with kids.
‘I’ve got to say it’s changed the whole appearance of the room! What do you think guys? Very girly so not to everyone’s taste.’
She added: ‘We only live in housing association so we don’t own it but I still try to make an effort with the place whilst we’re here’.
Laura revealed she bought 22 packs of B&Q’s Poprock White Wood effect Self adhesive Vinyl planks.
Modernising the space, she bought a hanging egg chair from B&M and chandelier lampshades from Wilkos.

The thrifty mum completed the airy look with a pale pink rug from B&M and a white table from eBay.
The transformation racked up 10,000 likes and comments from followers of the group.
One wrote: Looks so much bigger and very glamorous’.
Another added: ‘Stunning! What a difference. Love it! Love your egg swing chair indoors.’
