Council gritting crew gets ready for winter by performing their own version of Ice Ice Baby

Don’t give up the day job, boys! Council gritting crew gets ready for winter by performing their own hilarious version of Ice Ice Baby

  • Lyrics say: ‘stop, buckle up and listen’ to crew who are ‘gritting Kent, Kent baby’
  • The Kent County Council gritters call themselves ‘Da Gritting Crew’ in the song
  • Group members call themselves Master Gary Gee, MC Archie and MC Vapour

A group of singing council road gritters called ‘Da Gritting Crew’ made a hilarious music video parody of ‘Ice Ice Baby’.

The song, to the tune of Vanilla Ice’s  90s hit, tells listeners to ‘stop, buckle up and listen’ to the crew who keep ‘Kent’s roads clear both day and nightly’.

The video, shared to Facebook, shows the Kent County Council crew writing ‘ice’ into a pile of grit.

A group member who calls himself Master Gary Gee sings: ‘We’re gritting Kent, Kent baby’ before doing an arm waving dance move to the camera.

MC Archie is then shown doing the running man before adding: 'We're gritting Kent, Kent baby'

Full lyrics to Da Gritting Crew’s ‘Ice Ice Baby’ parody

Ice ice baby

Alright stop, buckle up and listen

Ice is back and we’re off on our mission

Gritting all the stuff hard and whitey

Keeping Kent’s roads clear both day and nightly

Will it ever stop, yo I don’t know

Turn on the lights, let’s go

Out, till the snows just a memory

Clearing the way till the road’s how it should be

Ice ice baby

We’re gritting Kent, Kent baby

Ice ice baby

We’re gritting Kent, Kent baby

MC Archie is then shown doing the running man before adding: ‘We’re gritting Kent, Kent baby’.

He is followed by MC Vapour who pulls out a few moves before all three appear on screen with the caption ‘Da Gritting Crew’.

The gritter, apply named Ice Ice Baby, is driven away as the finale to the one-minute long video.

The clip was shared to Facebook with the caption: ‘The guys are back! Stay safe this Kent Winter and please share our Gritting Kent page for others to keep up to date with weather reports and gritting updates.’

Viewers flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the hilarious clip.

Wintry weather is set to hit Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England on Thursday but will mostly remain bright with isolated showers and brisk northerly winds.

Britain has been plagued by downpours in the last week, causing wide-spread flooding across the country.

And the weather is not set to ease as up to 2.3 inches (60mm) of rain could fall on Thursday – meaning almost half a month’s rain could come down in one day.

Yellow weather warnings are in place for today and Thursday with some public transport services set to face disruption due to the wet weather.
