Counseling group for SEX OFFENDERS stops hotel sessions

A Phoenix behavioral counseling group announced specializing with sex offenders that it will no longer hold sessions at a resort hotel.

Per a CBS 5 Investigation, sex offenders in the Mountain Valley Counseling program were filmed all throughout the Sheraton Crescent Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. Offenders were seen wandering halls, lounging poolside, and surfing the web in the lobby during lunch breaks.

“It’s introduction to sex offender treatment class. Anyone who is on probation for a sex crime has to attend,” said an anonymous sex offender who attends the sessions at the hotel.

“If I don’t go, I go to jail. If I do go, they’re setting you up to violate because you’re at a hotel setting.

‘You go on breaks. You go to lunch. There’s kids everywhere. There’s families.

He added that some of the offenders are not allowed within 20 feet of children.

The general manager sent a statement that said: 'In line with our company standard to protect the privacy of our guests, we do not speak about matters involving individuals or groups who may be guests or visitors at our hotel'

CBS 5 Investigates reached out to Sheraton corporate officials, as well as the hotel’s general manager.

They asked whether the hotel guests were alerted that sex offenders were on premises and if the hotel took additional security precautions during the time the classes were held in the hotel.
