Couple details their life living on off-the-grid cabin on a lake – and pay $2,500 A YEAR in rent

A couple paying just $2,500 a year to live on a floating cabin has revealed how they adopted a completely off-the-grid lifestyle.

Brandon and Sarah, from North Carolina, opened up in a series of viral videos about what it’s like to live in a home on the water for minimum rent.

They dished on how they made the decision to give up a traditional house to purchase an old cabin while doing all the paperwork themselves.

Brandon and Sarah said that within two and a half months they transformed the shack into their dream home.

‘Two and a half months of elbow grease and we turned an old floating shack into our first home!! Doing all the work ourselves was a huge learning curve,’ the couple captioned one of their videos.

Now, they are fully adapted into their floating home and live in it full time alongside their adorable pup Iko.

They frequently showcase their tiny home on their TikTok channel.

‘[It’s] cheaper than a trailer and virtually no bills.’ Brandon and Sarah said.

The lovebirds explained that they pay a ‘very cheap’ yearly rent of only $2,500.

‘If you can afford a trailer you can afford our house. Yearly “rent” for the spot is $2,500. So affordable!’

The floating cabin is seemingly the perfect home for the adventure-seekers as they both spend most of their times outdoors.

Brandon runs a marina and Sarah helps to guide outdoor activities.

‘We both have vehicles – still go to work, the store, out to dinner, see friends & family,’ they said.

And although living on a home in the water seems like never ending serenity, many of the couple’s followers questioned how they would go to the bathroom.

Speaking about their toilet, Brandon and Sarah said:  ‘It’s a macerating toilet, grinds everything up and it goes into a holding tank that we have pumped out weekly.’

As far as food goes, the couple said they have to drive ’40 minutes’ to a grocery store, before adding that everything ‘is kinda far.’
