Couple film suicidal woman hanging off Las Vegas overpass

A Las Vegas couple filmed a suicidal woman who was hanging on the outside of an overpass last week. 

The distraught woman threatened to jump off the Mandalay Bay Road overpass at Interstate 15. 

‘The person was not in a good mental state and appeared to be suicidal,’ Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell said at the time.

According to the Clark County Fire Department, the incident forced lane closured of the freeway before they could get to the woman. 

Around 12.15pm, the fire department and the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a woman hanging on the outside of the overpass. 

Authorities said it took them about 45 minutes to bring the woman to safety using a fire truck ladder.

Video of the incident shows the woman, who was dressed in all white, clinging to the overpass as cars zipped by below her. 

Photos also showed the woman wearing dark glasses and sandals as she drank a bottle of water. The unidentified couple captured the footage as they passed by. 

‘My husband and I were driving on the 15 freeway in Las Vegas when we saw the lady trying to jump,’ the couple wrote in the caption of their video. 

The incident occurred near the Las Vegas Strip not far from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and the Delano.
