A couple decided to thank hotel staff for their overnight stay by leaving an X-rated note bragging about their ‘lovely rough sex’ in one of their beds.

The message was found by housekeeping staff at the four star, Grade II-listed Park House Hotel in Shifnal, Shropshire this week.

Staff at the £110-a-night 17th century hotel were astounded at the note, which read: ‘Hello. Thank you for the stay. We had lovely rough sex.’

It was discovered with a large tear in it and a smiley face and kiss at the end.

The Shropshire market town of Shifnal is known for being the home of King Charles II’s mistress Nell Gwyn and could have influenced the couple’s raunchy message.

The infamous Nell has a pub named after her in the centre of Shifnal called ‘Naughty Nells’ where she is believed to have lived.

Katie Hughes, 34,  Park House Hotel’s sales and marketing manager, said: ‘I am sure it was left with jovial intentions but it sure made us laugh.

‘When you work in hotels, and have done for 15 years like I have, you see some things, so this wasn’t as shocking to us as it might be to people not in the industry.

‘The note was found by housekeeping. It is essentially my job to respond to customer comments and feedback.

‘We put feedback forms in the rooms so I always insist any comment cards are to be left on my desk. I came across this one yesterday which was left from Sunday night.

‘I won’t say what room just in case anyone knows the couple.’

After the note was pictured and circulated on social media, Jason Taylor replied: ‘Now that is an acceptable TripAdvisor mention.’

Stewart Mackenzie-Fotheringham commented: ‘At least the housekeepers know to deep clean the whole room now.’

Barry Kirk added: ‘Ah that’s really sweet, how thoughtful.’
