Couple trick thousands of fans into thinking they’re on a European trip

Cheeky Aussie couple trick thousands of friends and followers into thinking they’re on a dream European holiday – but they never left the country

  • Pia Muehlenbeck and Kane Vato convinced their audience they were overseas
  • But the couple were in fact only visiting South Australia
  • They went to wineries that looked as if they were in southern France or Italy
  • They also visited a couple Parisian-styled restaurants in the city
  • After sharing images online, thousands were convinced they were overseas

Model Pia Muehlenbeck and her husband Kane Vato have tricked the internet into thinking they were overseas enjoying a luxurious European holiday when they were still in Australia.

The couple documented their travels in South Australia and captured images of stunning locations that mimic the wineries of southern France and the Amalfi coast.

In partnership with the South Australian Tourism Commission, the pair visited nine gorgeous locations in two days and fooled their followers as they went.

Their first stop was Samuel’s Gorge in the southern region of McLaren Vale, which is under an hour drive from the Adelaide CBD.

‘Looking around, and to me it looks exactly like the French countryside,’ Pia said in the YouTube video.

Samuel’s Gorge was established by winemaker Justin McNamee in 2003 but was originally housed in 1853 with a fam shed, winery and cellar door.

The gorgeous winery itself overlooks the ocean on the south and the Onkaparinga River National Park in the north, making it a great location to visit.

Pia wore a spotted dress, beret and gloves to make it seem as if she were in the wineries of France.

Later that same day Pia and Kane visited Coriole Vineyards, also in McLaren Vale, which has gorgeous lunch spots surrounded by a flower garden.

‘Are you convinced we’re in Italy? The entire property has these amazing colourful florals everywhere,’ Pia said.

To match the bright red flowers, she wore red lipstick and a white dress with a red belt.

The images captured fooled thousands who thought the couple were enjoying a nice lunch somewhere in Italy.

The couple travelled further south and headed along the coast to Second Valley - a beautiful coastal town on the Fleurieu Peninsula with picturesque views of the ocean

After their Italian-styled luncheon, the couple travelled further south and headed along the coast to Second Valley – a beautiful coastal town on the Fleurieu Peninsula with picturesque views of the ocean.

Many believed the images taken were along the Amalfi Coast or Capri in Italy.

Continuing with the Italian theme, the couple also made pizzas at Golding Wines in the Adelaide Hills, which is in the east.

They also visited two Parisian-styled restaurants in the city named Hey Jupiter and La Buvette.

Both Pia and Kane agreed the experience was incredible and would recommend other Australians to visit too.

‘I know a lot of us this year are missing out on our European summer fix, but if you want to hop over to South Australia I highly recommend it because it’s very picturesque and very beautiful,’ Pia said.

On Instagram the appealing content received 33,000 ‘likes’ and the short video has been viewed more than 86,000 times.
