A couple made redundant in the early days of the pandemic are now earning up to $15,000 a week selling fake tan.

After losing their jobs at the start of the Covid crisis in March 2020, Danni Rizza, 28, and Ryan Petryk, 33, invested $1,000 between them to test formulas and order their first batch of stock.

The Melbourne duo launched Vacay Body in June last year and turned over $30,000 in their first month of trading thanks to their products that promise to leave skin as glowing and radiant as a natural suntan.

Just over one year later, the former call centre manager and building supervisor are raking in an average of $15,000 per week, with about $7,000 of that total thanks to their best-selling creation: $34.95 Illuminating Self-Tanning Drops.

Beloved by Australian influencers including reality TV stars Jessika Power and Cheryl Maitland, the liquid serum is designed to be used on the face and promises a ‘bronzed, glowing complexion’ that looks natural with just a few drops.

Not only does the serum leave you looking sun-kissed, it’s good for your skin too.

Powerful ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, Kakadu Plum and 100 per cent natural DHA – a type of omega fat responsible for protecting and strengthening skin – ensure your face is getting the support it needs in terms of skincare as well as cosmetics.

The brand’s website says mixing a few drops into your usual moisturiser or face oil will build a radiant glow in just four hours.

Other popular products include a $29.95 gradual self-tanning mousse in three shades, a $24.95 tan erasing mousse, a $29.95 silk exfoliating glove and $12.95 premium self-tanning mitts.
