An extravagant video ad for a property that was widely mocked as ‘cringeworthy’ online has delivered – with the home selling for almost $1m more than than the area’s median price.   

A 23-year-old purchased the lavish four-bedroom home in Padstow – right in the heart of Sydney’s south-west – for $1.72m. The median house price in the area is $850,000.  

Real estate agent Sam Nader told Daily Mail Australia the man is a first home buyer who ‘loved the ad’. The man is said to have purchased the property after he saw the video on the news.

The controversial advertising campaign by LJ Hooker Bankstown director Sam Nader featured a couple shimmying around the property – with an actress even laying down on the kitchen bench.  

‘The property sold for much more than I expected,’ Mr Nader said who was originally seeking a price of around $1.6m to $1.7m.

An auction was originally planned for Saturday but with the offer from the young man already much higher than what the owners thought they would get, the agents decided to sell.  

‘I think the video is what sold it,’ Mr Nader said. 

The Sydney agent plans to release another video of a similar style in a few weeks time.

The agent said the ad campaign attracted huge amounts of attention from the public who he said reacted positively to video and said ‘they loved it’. 

The real estate video began with a man arriving at the sprawling, modern home in a white Jaguar F-Type coupe, parking the vehicle across the driveway before entering the property.

The man stroked the bonnet of his car and then walked to the front door, where he was greeted by a woman.

The couple entered the home and embraced each other in a dance before he laid her across the kitchen bench in a scene that was a bit much for some people.

Mr Nader himself said they deleted the original video – which attracted more than 250,000 views – as it was ‘a bit … raunchy’. 

LJ Hooker apologised at the time.

‘LJ Hooker Bankstown is always looking for new ways to market our listings; however, this time we missed the mark,’ a spokeswoman said. 

But they appear to have no regrets now.
