Cristiano Ronaldo filmed KICKING his captain’s armband away in disgust following Portugal’s Euro 2020 defeat by Belgium… and it’s the second time this year he has used it to signal a strop

Cristiano Ronaldo’s frustrations were clear to see on Sunday evening as Portugal were dumped out of Euro 2020 by Belgium.

And the 36-year-old made his feelings clear as he left the pitch, ripping off his captain’s armband and kicking it across the ground as he headed towards the tunnel in Seville.

The Juventus striker was caught on camera by one fan in the crowd as he left the pitch, kicking a water cup, before volleying his armband moments later. It was picked up by a staff member who followed him down the tunnel.

Ronaldo’s rage was clear, as he gesticulated his frustration while he continued his journey back to the changing room.

On the pitch, Portugal had the better of the chances against Roberto Martinez’s Belgium – the No 1 ranked side in the world.

However, Thorgan Hazard’s first-half thunderbolt proved the difference, with Raphael Guerreiro rifling Portugal’s best chance against the foot of the post late on.

Ronaldo spoke to members of the Belgium team on the pitch after full-time, making his feelings clear.

In an exchange with Thibaut Courtois, he told his former Real Madrid team-mate: ‘Lucky, eh? [The ball] didn’t want to get in today.’

It is not the first time this year that Ronaldo has taken his frustration out on his armband.

In March, during a World Cup qualifier, the Portugal captain stormed off the pitch and threw his armband to the ground after officials failed to spot his late effort against Serbia had crossed the line.
