Princess Mary proved she’s a thrifty royal by wearing a stunning floral gown to a lavish gala in Copenhagen, two years after its first outing.

The Danish Crown Princess, 47, looked stylish alongside her husband Prince Frederik as they arrived at the American Chamber of Commerce 20th Anniversary Gala last week.

She previously wore the $2,329 Erdem Agnes number at King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway’s joint 80th birthday celebrations in 2017.

The gala and accompanying awards ceremony and dinner in Copenhagen last week was a celebration of cultural and trade ties between the United States and Denmark.

The association was established in 1999 and is part of the international AmCham network found in more than 100 countries.

Crown Prince Frederik announced the winner of AmCham’s 2019 Foreign Company of the Year after dinner.

This went to the American biotech company Amgen, which through science, innovation and technology transforms ideas and research results into medicine for patients with serious illnesses.

The Danish Queen-in-waiting also debuted noticeably lighter locks at the Gala, opting for a sunkissed look as Denmark moves into autumn.

The Princess’s new hair colour comes after the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton also changed up her trademark brunette locks for a lighter look in early October.

Following her appearance, celebrity stylist James Johnson revealed how Kate has opted for ‘golden tones perfect for the autumn season’, to ‘frame her face’ and make her hair appear ‘thicker’.

Speaking of her transition from her summer look at the time, James suggested: ‘It’s a much warmer style, more stylish and suited for the cold seasons’.

Crown Princess Mary has been keeping busy in recent months, since she was named Danish regent in a historic move by her mother-in-law Queen Margrethe, 79, earlier this month.

This move places the mother-of-four one step closer to becoming the first ever Australian-born queen.

Mary’s new role means she can perform duties as head of state when Margrethe is otherwise engaged.

The Danish Queen is gradually handing over the reins to other members of the royal family, and Frederik, his brother Prince Joachim, and the Queen’s sister Princess Benedikte are also official stand-ins for the monarch.

Mary will become Queen of Denmark when Frederik ascends to the throne, following the death or abdication of his mother.

The Crown Princess has recently returned from Japan, where she attended the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito in Japan alongside Prince Charles.

She also attended the annual Christmas Label presentation last week at Copenhagen Town Hall, where she met those involved in the charity scheme.
