Crown Princess stuns in a blue cape dress worn previously as she joins Mrs Macron on state outing

She is known for her thrifty approach to fashion, and today was no exception for Princess Mary, who wheeled out an old favourite dress for a state occasion with the French President and his wife, Brigitte Macron.

The Crown Princess stunned in a navy blue cape dress she wore just several months previously in honour of the second day of the state visit of the French President and his wife to Denmark.

Once again, the 46-year-old paired it with a favourite brooch and Prada pointed toe pumps – as well as her trademark loose blow dry and drop pearl earrings.

Mrs Macron, meanwhile, sported a burnt orange dress and jacket reported to be by Louis Vuitton, which she wore with nude stilettos and a graphic handbag, while the men opted for navy and grey suits.

The Crown Prince and Princess joined President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron on a tour of Christian VII’s Palace in Amalienborg, where they signed the guest book and window panes.

The pair spent time chatting to the youngsters before heading inside for a tour.

This latest event was part of their two-day visit, as Mr Macron seeks to strengthen the relationships he needs to push France’s agenda of a more closely united European Union.

Elsewhere on their trip, the Macrons have enjoyed a banquet hosted by the Danish Royal Family at Christiansborg Palace.

They also laid wreaths to fallen soldiers at the Citadel in Copenhagen.

The couple, who arrived in Denmark on Tuesday for their visit, were escorted into the reception room for the banquet by Queen Margrethe, 78, who looked elegant in a dark purple gown.

Australian-born Mary, who has drawn comparisons to the Duchess of Cambridge, opted for a white satin gown with a full skirt and a black watercolour floral print.

Meanwhile her sister-in-law Princess Marie took a leaf out of the Duchess of Sussex’s style books with an off-shoulder red gown.

Also in attendance was Princess Benedikte of Denmark, the sister of Queen Margrethe, who donned a soft purple dress with a cape.

They later enjoyed a farewell ceremony in Copenhagen hosted by Queen Margrethe II.
