Several clues have been found in the desperate search for a young man who apparently wandered into ‘extremely dense scrub’ eight days ago on a popular tourist island.
Clothes and a hat belonging to Ben Chisholm, 22, have been found since he disappeared from Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island, near Townsville, north Queensland on Wednesday July 13 at 10am.

Police, the SES, Rural Fire Service and Parks and Wildlife teams are searching for Mr Chisholm, with his family fearing he may have fallen in the dense bushland
His desperate family fear he ‘may have slipped and not be able to get up’ and that he would be ‘weak and needing water’ by now.
Police officers, the dog squad and SES search teams are scouring the island’s bushland by QGAir Rescue 521 helicopter, with drone cameras and on foot.
The Rural Fire Service and Parks and Wildlife teams are also assisting police with search efforts.
A day after his disappearance Ms Rosario said his shirt and hat were found 1.5km up the Manderlay Avenue bush track at Nelly Bay.
‘We are feeling they are searching in the right area,’ Mr Chisholm’s aunt Kaylene Bell said in a social media post after the latest clue was found.
The family holds concerns for Mr Chisholm’s welfare, saying the disappearance is ‘out of character’.
The missing man lives in the Nelly Bay area on Magnetic Island, police said.
‘Ben wouldn’t disappear this long or hide out intentionally on his family for this long,’ Ms Bell said.
