Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha goes down too easily

Here we are, back talking about Wilfried Zaha again. It shouldn’t have been a penalty. He goes down too easily, too often.

I hope he gets a two-game retrospective diving ban, not because this was especially blatant but because you have to ask: ‘Wilf, when will you learn?’ It’s happening almost every week.

He makes the difficult job of being a referee even harder and needs to be taught a lesson.

Sterling comes to challenge and you look at his arm – there is contact – but Zaha put his leg into him to try to fool the referee. And it worked.

I struggle to see how Jon Moss could have given a red card to Jason Puncheon, though.

It was a nasty tackle on Kevin De Bruyne but it’s very difficult for a referee to give a red card to a player who is on a stretcher — a bit like Paul Gascoigne after his tackle on Gary Charles in the 1991 FA Cup Final.
