Cult celebrity workout Barry’s Bootcamp is expanding throughout Australia

Celebrity-approved workout class Barry’s Bootcamp will open its first gym in Melbourne this October, after setting up three successful centres in Sydney last year.

The announcement was made by Barry’s Bootcamp chief executive Joey Gonzalez, who said the ‘city lifestyle’ and colder climate of the capital was well suited to the high intensity exercise regime.

It’s not known yet what region of the city Barry’s will be but with only three months left until launch day that news will be available very soon, Daily Telegraph reported.

The classes, which have a cult following in the US where they originated, are comprised of strength and conditioning training – with gym bunnies doing 25 minutes worth of weights and 25 minutes on a treadmill running.

There are four focuses to the workouts, including ‘butt and legs’, ‘chest, back and abs’, ‘full body’ or just ‘abs’ on their own.

Billed as a ‘luxury’ fitness model at $36 a class, celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, The Beckham’s and Victoria’s Secret models stay svelte using the program.

In Sydney you can attend sessions at their Surry Hills, Martin Place or King’s Cross locations.

Speaking about her love of Barry’s Bootcamp, Kim Kardashian said in 2010 it’s the one workout she swears by to stay in shape.

‘It’s a treadmill workout but it’s really insane, like, heavy, heavy working-out non-stop, for an hour, half weights, half treadmill,’ she said.

Kim isn’t the only celebrity to love the classes either.
