Customer support workers have shared the unusual phone calls they’ve had with strangers – ranging from the ‘wholesome’ to the downright strange.
The Reddit thread was started by a customer in the UK who shared a screen shot of a live chat conversation he had with a Three employee just for fun.
‘When I get bored at work I seek out a customer service live chat operator to talk to,’ the man named Stanley explained, before sharing screenshots of their exchange about the weather.

While some Reddit users blasted the poster for wasting valuable time, several others shared their own experiences of informal chats with customer service operators.
One said: ‘I used to work phonebank night shifts. Only about 10 of us on most nights, after a few months you get to know the regulars who call up lonely.
‘I had one guy who used to sing Elvis to me and a lovely old lady who used to tell me not to eat tomatoes because I’d lose my eyes.’
One user from London even shared his ‘flirty’ exchange with a Sky Help Team worker called Trish.

Replying to her request for feedback a year after he sent the message, the man asked: ‘Do you still want it?’ before entering into a conversation with the Sky worker.
After Trish responds with a winky face emoji, the man asked: ‘Are you flirting with me?’, and she fires back ‘always ;-)’. The customer replied: ‘Yes Trish you minx hahahah’.
A man who worked on the phones for a gas company shared his hilarious dealings with prank callers.

He said: ‘I worked for the gas emergency service call centre and received numerous calls a day from kids shouting “I can smell gas! My mate just farted!” like it’s the most original joke ever made and nobody has ever thought of it before.’
A call centre worker from Norfolk replied to the original post saying: ‘As someone who works in live chat, please keep doing this. It makes our day a bit better.’
Another added: ‘When I worked on live chat for a company we had someone come through and ask me a bunch of random questions vaguely related to the product.
‘Knew straight off it was someone just there for the chat, humoured him for a while before he said he was stuck in a lecture at college and just wanted a distraction… When he started asking for help with the class I decided it had gone on long enough.
‘Made for a fun interlude between all the angry/whiney customers we had to deal with.’
If people aren’t screaming at you then you’re day is probably still stress-filled, but maybe not if you’re dealing with some of the customers mentioned by former call handlers on the thread
