Cyclists slam driver for going off-road to pass on road

An incensed driver has performed a dangerous undertake on a country road after growing impatient with a group of cyclists taking up the entire road.

The footage captured by a dashcam on a bicycle shows a group of riders two abreast, riding down the center of the narrow street in Western Australia.

As the group pass two people on horses, a car can be seen dangerously passing the cyclists, narrowly missing the riders and the horses.

Edward Hore, the president of the Australian Cycling Alliance, told Daily Mail Australia the car had been travelling behind the cyclists for ‘seconds’ before performing the move.

‘He could have killed people, he almost lost control of his car. You can see his back wheels pop up. It’s madness,’ Mr Hore said.

The footage was captured on a country road south of Perth on Monday by a member of the alliance.

The cyclists can be seen making hand gestures to signal a hazard up ahead, and move in unison into the middle of the road to avoid the two horse riders.

The footage shows two horses in the distance veering off the road to avoid the cyclists and not scare the animals.

The cyclists begin to veer back from the center of the road after passing the horses.

Momentarily after doing so, the Holden Commodore can be seen accelerating in between the horses and the bikes.

Mr Hore told Daily Mail Australia the cyclists believe there was less than two metres between themselves and the car.

The cyclists can be heard yelling at the driver as he comes within metres of them and the animals.

Reaction on social media has ranged between condemning the actions of the driver and asking why the cyclists needed to be two abreast.

‘Bicycles could have ridden single file and not taking the ENTIRE road and let faster vehicle pass safely,’ one person commented.

‘The cyclists were doing nothing wrong, and were trying to draw the cars attention to the horses,’ another said.
