A Texas father came up with a much more creative punishment than an old-fashioned grounding after his teen daughter broke the rules.
Madelynn Sumpter, 15, got into some hot water recently when she and her her friends snuck some boys into a sleepover — so Madelynn’s parents Tawnya Ford and Larry Sumpter gave her a choice: She could either surrender her cell phone for a whole month, or just surrender control of her social media accounts for two weeks.
Madelynn went the social media route, and soon her 43-year-old father was posting selfies and other embarrassing photos from her Instagram account.

He seems to have gotten the hang of it pretty quickly and uses funny hashtags
Larry, who lives in Denton, said Madelynn didn’t hesitate in picking the social media takeover, clearly finding the thought of giving up her phone for a whole month too terrible to bear.
But the takeover quickly turned more humiliating than she imagined.
Starting on November 11, Larry starting posting on her page, uploading a smiling selfie.
‘Felt cute. Might delete later,’ he captioned it.
After that, Madelynn begged him to take her phone instead.
‘After the first day, Madelynn was like, “I changed my mind, I choose the one month,”‘ mom Tawnya told Today. ‘Larry told her, “No. I’m too invested. I have too many ideas. We’re sticking with the two weeks.”
He announced the takeover with a snap of Madelynn bowing her head in shame, with a caption reading: ‘Maddi got herself grounded’
He’s uploaded a few mortifying videos on TikTok
He modeled a few outfits and poses on her Instagram account through November
His posts earned thousands of likes each, proving more popular that the teen’s own posts

Another post shows Larry wearing a blond wig and posing in a tight T-shirt with scrunchies on his wrist, doing his best impression of a VSCO girl.
‘Like, can we save the mother freakin turtles already?!’ he captioned it.
He later uploaded a snap of him in his construction hat, writing: ‘May do a photo shoot later…may not idk? #parenttakeover #makebetterchoices #instagood ##followme #feelingcute.’
He has also posted several silly videos on her TikTok account, including one that shows him trying to twerk.

Tawnya indicated that Madelynn should have expected as much, since her dad likes to do embarrassing things like pick her up at school dressed as the mascot.
‘We’re always down to embarrass our kids!’ she said.
But it’s not all bad: Larry may have actually helped his daughter build up a bigger Instagram following.
She’d previously only posted two photos that got a few hundred likes each, while her dad’s posts have racked up thousands of likes.
