Dalby attack: Lincoln Hoad dies after alleged punch outside pub

A tradie who was allegedly punched outside a Queensland pub has lost his fight for life as his alleged killer prepares to face court.

Lincoln Hoad, 32, fell to the ground after he was allegedly hit across the back of the head during an altercation outside a pub in Dalby, 208km west of Brisbane early Saturday morning.

The beloved local plumber was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition suffering a bleed on the brain.

The heartbreaking decision was made to turn off his life support the following day.

Shattered loved ones have hailed Mr Hoad a hero through the donation of his organs which will save the lives of others.

Mr Hoad’s partner Shalika Jade took to social media hours before his death to ‘wish for a miracle’.

‘I’ve had the absolute pleasure of having him in my life for almost 14 years as my love and throughout that time we have always chosen each other throughout everything,’ she posted on Facebook.

‘I love this man with my every fibre.’

‘I’ve been set up to cuddle my sweet Lincoln all night and I’ve been telling him how loved he is.’

Hours later, Shalika’s father Tim Wonhung confirmed the heartbreaking news that Mr Hoad, 14 years after he first hired him as an apprentice plumber at the local council.

‘Today we sit with Lincoln and Shalika at the PA hospital preparing for his last ultimate gift, the gift of life to many through organ donation,’ Mr Wonhung wrote.

‘RIP Lincoln ride well in Harley heaven Son. Heroes don’t always wear capes.’

Mr Hoad’s death sparked an outpouring of tributes.

‘My dear little brother Lincoln, today we lost a truly beautiful, fun loving larrikin,’ his sister Melina wrote.

‘I feel proud and privileged to be your sister.’

A 33-year-old Capalaba man arrested shortly after the alleged attack and charged with grievous bodily harm.

The man is due to appear Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday which has been upgraded to unlawful striking causing death following Mr Hoad’s death.

Several online fundraisers have been set up to help Mr Hoad’s loved one with funeral expenses and difficult months ahead.

‘For those of you who were fortunate enough to meet Lincoln, knew he was always there to help out, no matter who you were or what time of the day it was,’ one friend wrote.

‘He was an outgoing, loud, funny, loveable guy. His smile was infectious and he would know how to cheer you up straight away! He was always there when you needed to vent or have a chat.
