Damien Hirst’s former business manager has received a £90,000 tax break after donating sketches the controversial artist drew of him to the British Museum.
Hirst, 54, regularly doodled pictures on placemats of Frank Dunphy, who helped him gain worldwide fame.
He gave Dunphy the finished pieces and he donated them to the museum under a Government programme to encourage philanthropy in the arts.
He earned the tax break through the Cultural Gifts Scheme, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The pair would meet for breakfast at the Wolseley restaurant in Piccadilly, central London and Hirst sketched the portraits from 2004 to 2010.
In total, 73 placemats were donated to the museum.
Hirst, whose creations include a pickled shark and diamond-encrusted skull, employed Dunphy, 81, as his business manager during the 1990s and 2000s
The pictures, entitled the Wolseley Drawings, include some smeared with food and coffee stains from the breakfasts.
