Dani Dyer reveals the decision behind her twins’ names

Dani Dyer took to Instagram to explain the origin behind the names of her newborn twin girls on Sunday.

The former Love Island castmate, 26, shared the names of her daughters with her 3.7 million followers on Thursday.

The reality star revealed she and her West Ham boyfriend Jarrod Bowen, 26, chosen the names Star and Summer for their bundles of joy.

In a Q&A Instagram story, Dani went deeper into the decisions behind the names, after she was questioned on the choice by a fan.

She explained Star had been a precious name to her since childhood.

Summer, on the other hand, had been one of Jarrod’s own favourite names.

In the story, the mum-of-three penned: 4’I’ve always loved the name Star since I was a little girl and watched the film the lost boys and the vampire was called star.’

She continued: ‘Jarrod always liked the name Summer, so it was an easy decision!’

Despite the easy decision, the starlet did reveal she had a backup name in mind.

She wrote: ‘I loved the name Luna as well’. 

The twins are the couple’s first set of children they share. 

Dani has a son Santiago, two, from her previous relationship with Sammy Kimmence. 

Dani praised her young son in the Q&A, explaining that he’s been ‘brilliant’ with his young sisters.

 She also reassured fans that he was still receiving ‘lots of love and attention too’.

She penned: ‘[Santi] has been so brilliant, bless him. He loves a cuddle with them but he’s also just carried on being his usual self. So proud of him’

She continued: ‘I think it was me that was more worried than anything but he has really adjusted.’

She finished off saying: ‘Everyone that has come around has given him lots of attention’. 

Although she praised her young son, she did also admit to fans that his potty training was not going well.

In response to a fan’s question on how it was going, she revealed it had been  ‘terrible’.

However, she said she was hopeful the warmer weather would help things progress.

She penned: ‘[Potty training has been] terrible if I’m honest.’

She  continued: ‘I’m going to try again now the weather is getting warmer and hopefully it’ll be a success.’ 

The young celeb answered many other questions curious fans had, including the weight of her young babes.

She explained how she finds it easy to tell the girls apart despite being identical twins, in part due to Star’s smaller size.

She also shared her theory that Summer looks more like their father. 

 The mum penned: ‘I can really see the difference between the girls…I thought I wouldn’t be able to but maybe they won’t be that identical.’

 She continued: ‘I think where Star is smaller it makes it easier to tell but I think Summer looks more like Jarrod.’ 

The star also gave a candid insight into family life now she was a mother to three.

A mother always knows: Dani explained how she recognises the difference between her young daughters

 She explained that while she loved her family of five, she knew some days would be more difficult than others.

She penned: ‘I love our little family. I definitely know some days are harder than others however I think it’s just about accepting help whenever it is offered!’ 

She continued:’ Jarrod’s mum stayed with me the first week and my mum was round everyday to help me with night feeds whilst Jarrod was away with football.’

 She finished off by saying: ‘I’m just trying to find a new routine and get out the house more in the next few weeks’. 

Dani  first revealed her newborn daughters’ names via Instagram on Thursday.

She, welcomed twin girls with Jarrod Bowen on May 22nd, sharing to Instagram a week later.

Sharing an adorable new snap of her daughters wearing personalised baby grows she announced they were called Summer and Star, opting for monikers starting with S to match her son Santiago. 

She penned: ‘Summer & Star.. Our first week together & enjoying every moment of the newborn bubble. 

‘it’s been amazing watching santi be a big brother he has melted my heart in ways I couldn’t imagine and he just feels like such a big boy all of a sudden. My heart feels so so full and so excited for our journey together as a family of 5 [sic].’ 

Dani’s babies’ arrival came just a day after she watched Jarrod score in West Ham United’s final home tie of the season, a 3-1 victory over Leeds United.

Giving a first glimpse at her adorable newborns last week, she shared a snap of the twins cosied up in their hospital cot.

While she did not disclose their names, Dani revealed her daughters had been born on Monday as she captioned the snap: ‘22.05.23 [heart].’ 

Jarred shared the same image on his Story as he gushed: ‘The best week of my life.’ 

The couple’s friends and loved ones were quick to offer their congratulations, with Dani’s famous father Danny Dyer commenting: ‘Can’t stop smiling. ❤️❤️’ 

TOWIE star Georgia Kousoulou was quick to write ‘Beautiful ❤️❤️Can’t wait to meet them’, while Ashley James penned: ‘Oh wow congratulations ❤️.’ 

Just a day before the birth, Dani was still keeping active, supporting Jarrod at a match where he won 3-1 with West Ham against Leeds United.

Dani initially thought she was only pregnant with one child when she found out the news, before being told it was twins during a scan on November 29.

Announcing the news at the end of January, she wrote on Instagram: ‘We have been keeping a little secret… Our little TWINS ♡ ♡ So excited to meet our babies and watch santi be the best big brother..

‘The biggest surprise of our lives but feeling SO blessed.. our family is getting a lot bigger and we can’t wait.’

The star, who is the daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, was inundated with congratulatory messages including several from her fellow Love Islanders.

haughna Phillips wrote: ‘Omg congratulations my love!!!!! So happy for you,’ while Kaz Crossley added: ‘Wow congratulations beautiful’.

Dani has been open with her followers throughout her pregnancy, revealing that she had booked herself in for a C-section. 

Dani has been in a relationship with Jarrod since 2021, after revealing he was the one to slide into her DMs.

She said: ‘He slid in mine…however, I did have to give him my number I can’t be doing the DM’s for days haha x.’
