Danny Dyer left so exhausted by EastEnders storylines that he has to use IV booster drips for energy

Danny Dyer finds his role on EastEnders so draining that he has resorted to using IV booster drips for energy.

The TV hardman, 41, who plays Mick Carter in the long-running BBC soap, told the Daily Star: ‘I’ve been boosting my energy. I’ve had four courses of booster drips recently.

‘I was so lethargic. It also helps the liver and everything.’

The admission comes as Danny returns to the set of the stalwart soap, in London, for the first time, after taking a lengthy summer break with his family.

The drips cost around £160 per session and are a favourite of other celebrities including Simon Cowell, Brad Pitt, Madonna, Rihanna and Danny’s own daughter, Love Island star Dani.

The drips involve a flow of vitamin B12 to the body and are said to improve calmness and well-being, improving health over the days afterwards.

Danny has to endure long hours on set at EastEnders, and his plots tend to involve high drama. Mick has been involved in an affair with his daughter-in-law, a heist gone wrong and the rape of his wife by his own brother.

He is also about to embark on a stint in the West End, alongside Martin Freeman in Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter/A Slight Ache – sure to add more pressure to his grueling schedule.

He had to take time off from work earlier in the year, thanks to suffering from personal issues with his wife. He fled to Africa to be alone, returning home and to work several weeks later having sorted out the problems.

At the weekend, Danny was sure to dedicate some downtime to his family – with him and Dani joining her boyfriend Jack Fincham for a Sunday roast.

Jack took to his Instagram to share a photograph with Dani’s family – including her grandfather, affectionately known as ‘Bruv’ – all smiling and cuddled up.

Dani had left fans of the ITV2 show in hysterics last month when she revealed she called her grandfather ‘Bruv’ as she always wanted a brother growing up.

Now following in the 22-year-old barmaid’s lead, Bruv has stepped into the world of social media and posted three snaps with his current and constantly growing 45.9K followers, thanks to his granddaughter’s promotion on Insta Story.

The roast dinner also comes after Dani revealed she only signed up for the ITV2 show after failing to land a role on her dad Danny’s starring soap EastEnders.

The 22-year-old told The Daily Star On Sunday she would love to land to appear on the BBC soap, but thinks bosses are reluctant due to Danny’s ongoing role as Mick Carter.

It comes as Dani also revealed that her boyfriend Jack Fincham has missed his former job as a stationery salesman since being crowned Love Island champion, admitting he’s thought about returning on a part-time basis.

Dani reveals she tried to land a part on EastEnders before applying on Love Island and Survival Of The Fittest, but was given a firm no by bosses who feared a public backlash.

A source also told the publication that Dani decided to make the move into reality TV after growing ‘fed up’ with working as a barmaid.

They added that despite dad Danny’s reservations at her career change, he now agrees it is one of the best things she could have done.

Dani became the runaway winner of this year’s Love Island thanks to her relationship with boyfriend Jack Fincham, with the coupling pairing up on day one and staying together until the series’ end.

Since leaving the villa Jack and Dani’s relationship has gone from strength to strength, with the pair even moving into their first home together in London earlier this month.

Meanwhile Dani also revealed that beau Jack is growing his old job selling pens, telling The Times he was keen to return to work soon after Love Island’s end.

She said: ‘When he came out, he was saying to my dad, ‘I’m going to have a week off work, I reckon, and then I’ll go back to selling pens.

‘And my dad was like, ‘No, Jack, it’s not going to work like that, mate. You’re going to have a different life now.’

‘Jack didn’t realise. He genuinely said, ‘Dan, I think I’ll have a week off,’ and then he said, ‘Well, how about I go back a couple of days a week then?’ And I was like, ”Jaaaack!!!!”

Jack revealed earlier this week that he had quit his job selling pens, saying at the Edinburgh TV festival: ‘I will stay in touch with the boys though. [I have] lovely opportunities elsewhere’.
