Activist Danny Lim has shared a moving tribute to the two police officers shot dead on a rural Queensland property.

The beloved Sydney icon, who was recently seriously injured in a brutal police arrest, tied a poster to his chest honouring Constable Matthew Arnold, 26, and Constable Rachel McCrow, 29.

‘Condolences to the two fallen officers and their families and friends,’ the poster read, along with a photo of the pair.

‘Rest in peace.’

Both officers were shot and killed by a trio of conspiracy theorists on their property at Wieambilla, three hours west of Brisbane, last Monday.

The murderous trio, former school principal Nathaniel Train, his brother Gareth, and his wife Stacey, were later shot dead by specialist police officers.

The constables, along with two of their colleagues, had gone to the property for a routine check on Nathaniel who’d been reported missing, before they were ambushed by the heavily armed family.

Mr Lim was seen proudly sharing the tribute around the streets of Sydney on Wednesday morning – the same day a memorial service was held in Brisbane to farewell the officers.

The 78-year-old was not his usual smiling self, and was holding himself up with two walking sticks.

Mr Lim is still recovering from his violent arrest at the hands of NSW Police officers.

He was taken to hospital after he fell to the ground when he was arrested at Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building on November 22.

Mr Lim suffered bleeding to the brain from the fall, with footage of the violent arrest sparking community anger and an internal police investigation.

Footage of Mr Lim’s confronting arrest shows him crying out for help as he’s handcuffed and thrown to the ground.

A police spokesperson said officers ‘discontinued’ their arrest after Mr Lim’s head cracked against the tiled floors, leaving him with a subdural haematoma – a brain bleed – and black eye.

He will now require ongoing specialist medical care, and will use a walking stick.

Late last month, dozens of protestors gathered outside Surry Hills Police Station after Mr Lim’s arrest.

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed that an inquiry has been launched into the incident.

‘An independent review will examine the actions of police during the arrest of a 78-year-old man in Sydney’s CBD,’ the statement said.

‘As inquiries into the incident continue, an independent review has been launched, which will examine the actions of police during the incident.’

This investigation will be overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC), which monitors and investigates allegations of police misconduct.

‘The Commission will continue to closely monitor the progress of the police investigation of police contact with Mr Lim,’ an LECC spokesman said.

‘This includes considering the force NSW Police Force officers used as part of Mr Lim’s arrest.’
