A teenager has been charged with allegedly stabbing a stranger on a bus in broad daylight.

Police allege a 34-year-old man was travelling on a bus on Flinders Street in Darlinghurst, Sydney, shortly after midday when he was suddenly stabbed by another passenger. 

The alleged attacker – 19-year-old Trekieye Williams – then got off the bus and fled the scene. 

He was later arrested in Prince Alfred Park at about 1.30pm and a knife was seized by police.

The alleged victim was taken to the St Vincent Hospital by NSW Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries to his left hard, arm, and chin. 

Officers from the Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and searched the area.

Williams was taken to the Surry Hills Police Station and charged with several offences relating to the stabbing and another alleged assault on the same day.

Police will allege the 19-year-old had assaulted and robbed a man in Bondi before proceeding to stab a stranger on the bus.

He has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, using and offensive weapon, aggravated robbery, common assault and destroying or damaging property.

He was refused police bail and is expected to face the Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
