Funnyman Dave Hughes has had many guests on his popular TV show Hughesy, We Have a Problem, but one has taken him completely.
On Thursday, the comedian announced that he and his wife Holly would be adopting a dog called Bubbles – who had earlier appeared on his Channel 10 program.
He captioned a photo of the pet on his Instagram, writing: ‘Great news, Denise has told me the vet says Bubbles doesn’t need an operation! Her arthritis can be managed with medication!’

He added: ‘She will be entering the Hughes household next week!’
Followers flocked to his account to lend their support, with one writing: ‘Oh, Dave. I sat and cried at the traffic lights when I heard you say you adopted Bubbles.
‘I looked over next to me and a woman in another car was blubbering too. You have a good heart, Dave.’
Another wrote: ‘Your love for animals makes me admire you and love you & your family even more.’

Dave and his wife Holly have three children together – son, Rafferty, 8, and daughters Sadie, 6, and Tess, 5.
The Hughes household already has a rescue dog, Barkly, and a cat, Teddy.
In April, Dave’s daughter Sadie, 7, pranked called him live on his radio show, Hit’s Hughesy and Kate, but he failed to recognise Sadie’s voice.

Dave’s Instagram followers posted messages of support after news of the dog adoption, with one writing: ‘Your love for animals makes me admire you and love you & your family even more’
Sadie called up the show as part of the ‘freaky facts’ segment, pretending to be a girl named Kelly and Dave later praised his little girl for being able to pull off the stunt.
After the call, Dave told News.com.au that his wife Holly scolded him.
‘She thinks it’s a prime example of me not spending enough time at home,’ he said.
