Mr Cameron made headlines last year as the Greensill lobbying row erupted, left Number 10 in July 2016 after losing the referendum on leaving the European Union.

In the same year her husband David left Downing Street Mrs Cameron founded fashion label Cefinn and has was busy promoting her womenswear line over the festive period.

In December, the businesswoman declared the £290 cashmere jumpers, £90 scarves and £65 hats ‘brilliant’ Christmas presents in a new video shared on the brand’s account.

Samantha, who admitted she had ‘sleepless nights’ over how Cefinn would survive in the height of the pandemic, even tried on two of the pieces herself, while doling out advice on how they could be styled.

A retail veteran, Samantha was chief creative officer of luxury stationery brand Smythson earning £400,000 a year, more than twice her husband’s Prime Ministerial salary.

In recent years Cefinn has pivoted towards pieces that can be worn at home, as well as to the office, introducing slouchy jumpers and luxe loungewear-inspired pieces.
